After trying a new approaches to write the script, the team thought we should maybe have the dream live action but yet keep it still interesting for children. It seemed the way to do it is to have surreal sets, something that can still attract younger viewers. but just a surreal set should only support the story, the story needs to be still as powerful as the original concept.

one of the thing I researched to engage younger viewers to the screen is to comedy. and what seemed to be the most effective was visual comedy. to start researching I started with the first greats of comedy, here was the films I watched.

  • The Great Dictator, 1940. Charlie Chaplin
  • The Gold Rush, 1925. Charlie Chaplin
  • The General, 1926. Buster Keaton
  • The Camera Man, 1928. Buster Keaton
  • The Mask, 1994. Jim Carrey

One of the comedians that  I grew up on their hilarious slapstick techniques was Rowan Atkinson, especially his role as Mr. Bean, looking through his work I found that he has created a series on what he believes defines visual comedy.
